Norah's Gvinis Tetri, 2022
Orange wine
Tax included.
Whiskey-laced citrus, delicate skin texture, and a story no other wine on this list can tell. Only 200 bottles made.
Gvinis Tetri is an old Georgian grape variety — nearly forgotten, brought back by Tornike Lomtadze. Not enough grapes exist (in the world) to fill a qvevri, so stainless steel with six months of skin contact preserves what little there is. The result is intensely orange/amber, textured, and unlike anything else.
That whiskey-infused citrus note is not a coincidence — it's what happens when this ancient variety spends half a year on its skins with nothing added and nothing removed.
Pairs with aged gouda, roasted walnut cake, dried apricots, strong blue cheese.
Limited to 200 bottles per vintage. Label by Barbara Aslamazi (@barbara_aslamazi).
