Forest of wild berries, 2022
Red wine
Tax included.
Wild berries, dark fruit, a velvety texture that lingers. Saperavi made to be drunk, not endured.
Saperavi is Georgia's most powerful red grape — naturally red-fleshed, deeply coloured, and in the wrong hands brutally tannic. Artizani made a deliberate choice: stainless steel instead of qvevri, to let the fruit speak without the intensity that makes most Saperavi hard to drink. The grapes come from Khashmi, a small village in Kakheti that many Georgians consider the finest Saperavi terroir in the country. Rich soils, a specific microclimate, and vines that know exactly what they're doing.
The result is a juicy, full-bodied red with dark forest berries, subtle tannins, and a finish that keeps going. Complex enough to reward attention. Easy enough to open on a Tuesday.
Pairs with grilled aubergine, mushroom ragù, aged hard cheese, warm lentil dishes.
Artizani — a collective of three winemakers working with indigenous Georgian varieties and minimal intervention. The name of this wine is not a metaphor. It tastes like a walk in a Georgian forest.
